The Playhouse has a long history of providing educational opportunities for both kids and adults in Coeur d'Alene and North Idaho. Previous programs have included summer theatre arts camps for kids, guest speakers, production and acting workshops, and much more.

Winter 2012 Classes
Six week courses begin the week of February 13 and conclude the week of March 19. Friends and Family are invited to sit in on the final class for a showcase of what we have worked on.
Creative Play - Ages 3 & 4 - Feb 13-Mar 19, 12:30-1:15
Through a mixture of song, movement, and storytelling, children learn to explore and express their inner world. Children discover the magic of play.
Fee: $70

Story Acting - Ages 4 & 5 - Feb 13-Mar 19, 1:30-2:15
A traditional nursery rhyme, short poem, or familiar story will be used as the basis for creating a different story to act out each session.
Fee: $70

Creative Dramatics - Grades K-2 - Feb 13-Mar 19, 5:00-6:00
An introduction to theatre, creative dramatics facilitates exploration of the imagination through creative storytelling. Students learn the basics of performance - how to use their body, voice, expressions and imagination - using children's stories, legends and folktales.
Fee: $80

Humpty Dumpty: the other side of the wall - Grades 3-6 - Feb 14-Mar 20, 5:00-6:00
For the beginning actor, students learn skills to help create believable characters utilizing voice and movement. This inventive script follows a team of detectives in search of the cause of Humpty Dumpty's famous fall. Could he have been pushed? All of your favorite nursery rhyme characters help to solve this mystery!

King Arthur and the Rectangular Table - Grades 3-6 - Feb 15-Mar 21, 4:15-5:45
Students are taught vocal and physical warm-ups, and songs to develop the skills needed for acting through song. How did King Arthur really get the round table? It was, of course, the brilliance of the women. These Knights are brave enough to slay a dragon, but without the help of their wives they can't agree on who gets to sit at the head of the table!

Whose Line is it Anyway? - Grades 6-8 - Feb 13-Mar 19, 3:00-4:30
Improvisation is an art form that can be enjoyed and cherished. Students will get to express themselves through movements, environments, and dialogue the create on the spot.
Fee: $100

Group Voice - Grades 7-12 - Feb 15-Mar 21, 3:30-4:30
Develop the necessary skills for healthy and productive singing in a fun and supportive small group. Students will be taught the proper techniques to create healthy habits for all types of singing.
Fee: $80

Group Voice - Adult - Feb 15-Mar 21, 4:45-5:45
Develop the necessary skills for healthy and productive singing in a fun and supportive small group. Students will be taught the proper techniques to create healthy habits for all types of singing.
